Make Your Own

Want to make your own sensors? That's highly encouraged! If you come up with a great new sensor we'd love you to share your ideas with us on the forums.

If you want to make your own sensors the rules are:

  • The base of the 3.5 mm jack is ground.
  • The middle of the 3.5 mm jack is used to detect voltages from 0 to 5 volts. These values are mapped to 0->1024 and then clamped to 999 in the software.
  • The tip of the sensor provides 5V of power. Don't use this to power sensors that use over 100 mA (most sensors are fine with less than 100 mA). If you need more than 100 mA you can handle this by using batteries to power the sensor.
